Kathryn Nelson, MHA

Kathryn Nelson, MHA is the Coordinator of Patient Safety for the University Hospital and Clinics at the University of Missouri Health Care System. She serves as Vice Chair of the Missouri Commission on Patient Safety as well as Clinical Instructor in the School of Health Management and Informatics, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. She was recently selected to participate in the AHRQ-VA Patient Safety Improvement Corps with Missouri Department of Health partners. Ms. Nelson also serves on the University Hospital and Clinics Patient Safety Committee, Quality Improvement Committee and the MU Healthcare Board of Health Care Quality. She was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Patient Safety Network at the University of Missouri, an electronic adverse event and near miss reporting system, and is overseeing its operation. Ms. Nelson has a Master's degree in health administration from the University of Missouri, as well as an extensive background in continuous quality improvement in health care and other industries.
